Workplace with special needs

Office work and other sedentary work can be ideal for people with disabilities that affect balance and walking. With sedentary work, e.g. in an office, it is often possible to achieve a good sitting position by adjusting the chair and desk to the work situation.

Better Ergonomics for Standing Workstations

When designing workstations, ergonomics is crucial for both wellbeing and productivity. For those who work standing for extended periods, it’s important to create a comfortable and healthy work environment with the option to sit and receive support.

An ergonomically designed workstation, tailored to the individual, can enhance the environment and increase efficiency. By choosing a VELA work chair, which allows for alternating between standing and sitting, you are investing in the health and well-being of your employees. Over time, this can reduce absenteeism and increase job satisfaction.

Regardless of the job function, ergonomic solutions like VELA work chairs ensure a healthy and productive workday. This applies to everything from manufacturing and warehousing to healthcare and service industries. By prioritising ergonomics, you create an environment where employees can work efficiently without strain.

Finding the right chair

VELA has several different models of customised chairs with brakes, which are particularly well suited to office work and can be adapted to suit people with special needs.

An ordinary office chair may be unsuitable for people with walking difficulties and reduced balance, since the chair can easily roll away when the user tries to get up or sit down. A VELA work chair for disability at work, has a brake, and you can get up or sit down without the chair rolling away. This increases the user’s stability and provides security. Using the chair’s brake while sitting and working achieves stability, and less strength is therefore required to maintain a good sitting position.

VELA has many years of experience of finding just the right chair so that people with disabilities can continue to actively participate in the labour market.

When selecting a chair for sedentary work for people with disabilities, it is important to focus on: a stable underframe and a central brake for security and balance, as well as other special needs that must be met to create a good workplace.

If the user has reduced strength in their legs or, for example, stiff joints, it can be beneficial to choose a chair with electric height adjustment. It is also possible to get around the office while sitting down, since all our chairs with central brakes have large wheels, which make it possible to “walk” the mobility chair forward. All chairs in this series also have adjustable seats, backs and armrests so the user can achieve a good, active, ergonomic sitting position regardless of the work situation, and switch between different tasks.
